Lathe The lathe tool allows us to draw one half of an object and use geometry which spins the drawing 360 to create a symmetrical shape such as a bottle, a glass, a pedestal, or even a lamp. This is especially useful for many man-made objects as it imitates processes used in the real world, a pottery wheel for example. Extrude The extrude function is an extremely useful tool that allows surfaces and splines to literally be extrudes out from an area. By combining this with other tools Cinema 4D can become a very powerful programme, for example we have the inner extrude tool which allows us to pull out different areas and create a whole object just from a cube, after that you could drop that object into a subdivision surface to round off the edges and give very similar effects to the lathe tool without having to draw splines. Sweep The sweep is a tool that allows an object to extend out from a point through the path of a spline, this is useful for experimental 3D, or abstract digital art, but it also has more practical uses, an example would be modelling a plant stem sprouting from the earth for example. 3d modelling & animation is designed to give a solid grounding in the essential core skills required to create and produce three dimensional computer work, including primitive and mesh modeling, surface design and object key-frame animation. The course will guide the student through weekly tutorials designed to cover aspects of 3D creation needed for the wide range of commercial and artistic uses that exist. |
