This is a critical response to a text provided on the Digital Arts Museum website that can be found here. Critical Response The text Computers and Modern Art discusses the origins of digital artists and the vocations they come under. Unlike other essays on digital art, the authors (Digital Art Museum) discuss themselves in the opening paragraph as an introduction to the text rather than focusing on informative quotes or a brief history of the subject, this approach provides the text with a trusting foundation that gives the points discussed in the text extra credibility, which ultimately is what makes a successful piece of persuasive writing.
There is in fact a small sense of contradiction within this text that the author even debates amongst himself. The author discusses religion being the forefront of art, and the development of art leading up to the creation of the digital artist, but digital art did not start with artists, it started with mathmeticians and scientists, making this whole section of the essay redundant, and thus “the paradox for modern art lies here”.
